The Case and Dial
The Streamliner Centre Seconds Smoked Salmon watch has a 40.0 mm cushion-shaped steel case that is water-resistant up to 12 ATM. The design of the case is ergonomic, with no lugs on the sides, and has a fully integrated steel bracelet. The middle of the case features satin-finished forms on the sides and alternating brushed and polished surfaces that pay homage to the traditional unusual shapes that are typical of Moser cases. The watch has a subtly domed sapphire crystal and a see-through case back that echoes the curves of the case. The integrated steel bracelet of the watch is a technical feat, featuring articulated links with a gentle wave combining a vertical brushed finish with polished surfaces.
To elevate the steel of the case and the bracelet, H. Moser & Cie. has created a brand-new fumé dial called Smoked Salmon. The dial has a griffé finish found only on special editions and is available for one year only. The dial constantly plays with light, moving from black to a surprising mirror effect. The hands of the watch are made from two sections and feature inserts with Globolight®, an innovative ceramic-based material containing Super-LumiNova®. The dial of the watch is a stunning vintage-inspired masterpiece.
The Movement
The Streamliner Centre Seconds Smoked Salmon watch is powered by the HMC 200 automatic calibre, designed, developed, and produced entirely in-house. The movement is equipped with a regulating organ manufactured by Precision Engineering AG, the sister company of H. Moser & Cie. The HMC 200 calibre houses a large, engraved, solid gold oscillating weight and guarantees a minimum three-day power reserve. The movement has a diameter of 32.0 mm or 14 1/4 lignes, a height of 5.5 mm, and a frequency of 21,600 Vib/h. The movement has 27 jewels and an automatic bi-directional pawl winding system. The finish of the movement features Moser stripes and an original Straumann® hairspring.
Concluding Thoughts
The H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Centre Seconds Smoked Salmon watch is priced at US$21,900, making it a luxury timepiece for those who appreciate the brand’s unique take on Haute Horlogerie. The watch’s vintage-inspired design, combined with the in-house automatic movement and highly intricate details in the case and bracelet, make it a standout piece for collectors and enthusiasts. While it may be a high-end purchase, the exclusivity of the model being available for one year only and the craftsmanship involved in its production make it a worthy investment for those seeking a truly exceptional timepiece.
