Independent watchmaker Ba111od releases their first watch tailored for women – the Chapter 6. The novelties come in five designs in 36mm cases.

Commentary

We have been keen followers of the progress of Ba111od and their designs. In particular, we are intrigued by their Chapter 4 in various guises. From our hands on comprehensive review of the least expensive Swiss made tourbillon – the Ba111od Chapter 4.1 and the Ba111od Chapter 4.5 GMT Tourbillon. And now a new release of another eminently affordable wristwatch targetted at the ladies, they present the Chapter 6.

A total of 5 models are released. All in 36mm steel cases, with two with additional gold PVD coating. The watches are released in 5 different colour options for the dial. All feature the crown at 4 o’clock, which is a Ba111od signature.

The design is quite a good looking watch, with an open aperture forming the upper part of the figure of 8 which dominates the dial, quite similar visually to the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde, but the Ba111od is just an open aperture to view the movement. The time is displayed centrally and the hour/minute hands sweep across the entire dial surface.

Each watch boasts a sunray dial in either soft pastels or bolder hues, elegantly showcasing the automatic self-winding mechanism. A Celebration of Women

While the first five chapters are unisex (the second being a diamond-set reproduction of the first), Chapter 6 is entirely devoted to women, celebrating them through its five models. This is a nod to the BA111OD team, which is predominantly female. Together with Senior Designer Liliane Murenzi, they have designed a self- winding collection of contemporary elegance, offering a palette of shades ranging from subtle to bold, to suit every woman.

This new Chapter was brought to life by BA111OD Senior Designer Liliane Murenzi. Drawing her inspiration from the fresh tones of nature, but also from the geometric motifs she is particularly fond of, she wanted to offer very feminine Swiss-made pieces, displaying hours, minutes and seconds. With a 36mm case and slim, rounded lugs in steel (with or without yellow gold PVD treatment), the designer has favoured slender shapes, while maintaining the crown at 4 o’clock – the Maison’s signature.

The opening on the dial, which is vertically oriented, with the detail of a tinted glass disc – revealing the heart of the watch, a self-winding mechanical movement – enabled her to play with the brand’s codes, between skeletonisation and transparency, on a sunray dial, available in champagne, ash grey, mint, sky blue and ice white. The design is distinguished by a notched bezel which, in continuity with the sunray dial, creates captivating plays of light for added sparkle. As for the leather straps in this collection, they are equipped with 2 NFC-connected chips, one of which can be used to store your business card (or any other file you wish to share), and the other to provide direct access to your BA111OD boutique, enabling Afluendors to send a direct link to purchase the brand’s watches and be rewarded for doing so.
