The new New: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Backlight Spin-Stone Monobalancier will have a retail price of SGD 222,000 inclusive of GST. Limited Edition of 28 pieces.

Commentary

The novelty is an addition to the Excalibur Backlight collection with the case is made of what RD calls EON gold* case with the bezel also in EON gold. EON gold is a special 5N gold alloy which RD claims to be more resistant to tarnishing.

The case and bezel is then set with curved synthetic sapphire Spin-Stones, with a gradient of hues. The Spin Stones are the novelty here, as the regular RD Excalibur Backlight editions already feature coloured spinels which glow under UV. The new Spin-Stones used not only for the vivid multi-colour spinels on the arms of the movement which are visible from the dial side, but also layered in a special cut around the bezel. The bezel set stones are new, and feature a special shape to follow the curves of the bezel. In the other Excalibur Back Light models, the bezel is plain metal or set with regular gemstones

The Spin-Stones are coloured from red to blue and coated with SuperLumiNova so that the watch looks brilliant in full colour in da , night or UV light.

The movement is the standard RD720SQ which is the same as those used in the other Excalibur Backlight watches. This novelty offers a very unique look to the watch, with the colours coming into play quite beautifully in all lighting conditions. But it does come at a rather hefty SGD 60k premium over the regular versions.
