Discovering the Rolex Submariner
The Hour Glass and Rolex invite you to a unique exhibition exploring the universe of the Oyster Perpetual Submariner, the first divers’ watch waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet) and the archetype of its kind. Retracing the remarkable history of this timepiece, from its birth in 1953 – during the early days of scuba diving – to the present day, the Submariner exhibition will be held for the first time in Singapore and exclusively at ION Orchard Level 1 from 11 to 20 August 2017.
This is an event not to be missed, be it if you are Rolex fan or just starting out to appreciate watches. Let the beautifully curated images bring you through the story of how the celebrated divers’ watch developed over the years, through panels and interactive displays presented in an interesting structure inspired by the familiar links of a Rolex Oyster bracelet.
It explains the many innovations that have gone into making a timepiece that is perfectly waterproof, resistant to shocks, and equipped with functions essential for underwater exploration. The Submariner exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to discover the history of a watch that began life as a professional tool and moved effortlessly from ocean to land, to become a truly universal timepiece.
