In the month of August, we got familiar with three very different types of timepieces, from a dive watch, to racing-inspired timepieces to dazzling precious stones for ladies’ wrists, highlighting the vast diversity in offerings in the world of horology.

The Rolex Submariner Exhibition by The Hour Glass Singapore – 11th August
Following the success of the Daytona exhibition in October last year, Singaporeans this year were treated to a unique exhibition showcasing the history of the Submariner and its journey to its present glory. Through curated images, interviews and actual watch presentations, exhibition-goers learnt the story of how the celebrated divers’ watch developed over the years. The event launch cocktail was held on 11th August and many Rolex enthusiasts took this opportunity to mingle with friends old and new, over champagne and live jazz music.

Bulgari SERPENTIform at Art Science Museum – 16th August
SERPENTIform is an exhibition curated by the Bulgari Brand and Heritage Curator, Lucia Boacaini that focuses on the Serpent, an icon of the Bulgari brand, and how it has inspired the world of jewels, arts, design, fashion, decorative arts and photography.
True to the theme of the exhibition, one can expect vintage pieces from the Bulgari Heritage Collection, such as bracelet-watches, necklaces, belts, evening bags being exhibited. There are also serpent-print garments used in various movies and operas as well as paintings and antiquities.
Singapore is the first place that the SERPENTIform is shown outside of Rome, home country of Bulgari. It is now open to the public from 19 August to 15 October 2017. More information of the exhibition can be found here.

Roger Dubuis “Dare to be Rare” by The Hour Glass Singapore – 17th August
Held at the posh City Space located on Level 70 of SwissĂ´tel The Stamford, invited guests had the opportunity to have a go at the latest Excalibur Spider Pirelli series. The most popular piece of the evening would be the Automatic Skeleton with self-winding mechanical calibre and micro-rotor, housed in a 45mm DLC Titanium case, and of course, with its special strap made from black rubber base and Pirelli special tyre inlay. The signature drink of the evening the “Dare to be Rare” cocktail concocted of vodka, blue curacao and lychee liqueur also made its rounds among guests.
