I think this is a lot of fun, which is a pleasant surprise from Patek. I agree that it would probably look a bit better if it was a few mm smaller.

Now if only Patek took a slightly more generous position with pricing! Not that it would make it easier to get one’s hands on…

Kunal, thanks for your comments, as always, greatly appreciated. “De gustibus non est disputandum”

But the Ref 5212 spoke to me the first time I saw it. The handwriting of the day of the week does it. Ever so subtle, but yet, brings a smile to my face when I saw it, and made me realize that even in a leviathan organization like Patek Philippe, I get a peek into the soul. This is Philippe Stern showing the humanity of Patek Philippe.

Thank you for an excellent review.

And thank you for your comment. The Ref. 5212A is a watch you either hate or love due to its unusual design. I share your sentiments on the new Annual Calendar Regulator and the two Vacheron Constantins.

This watch does not speak to me at all. Something about it just does not “click” with me. I just feel that PP has lost its design / aesthetic edge. The only PP I liked was the Annual Calendar Regulator in new colour, and the Nautilus Annual Calendar in SS.

If I were buying a Simple / Complete Calendar (not AC / QP) watch, my two top choices would be the VC Traditionelle Complete Calendar or the VC Harmony Complete Calendar. Both are gorgeous.
