Grand Seiko introduces two mechanical creations with a GMT in the Grand Seiko Sport Collection – in two dial variations, both inspired by the wilderness and the open sea.

Grand Seiko SBGM247 and SBFM245

Both models of the Grand SEiko Sport GMT retail at USD 5700 / EUR 5700 / JPY 580,000.

The two watches are new to the Grand Seiko Sport Collection, and feature the new Caliber 9S66 3 day automatic movement with GMT. The movement has a standard beat rate of 28,800 bph. These two new references complement the two existing GS GMT watches with Hi-Beat movements – the SBGJ237 and SBGJ239. The Grand Sport collection also feature 6 further references of GMT with the 9R66 Spring Drive movement and 5 additional references with the 9F86 Quartz movement.

The two dial colours are interesting. One is a dark but bright blue with a sunburst finish, which is perhaps a standard offering, but the other is in a khaki-like brown green also in a sunburst finish which is a bit more unusual. The inspiration for the dials are taken from the sandy desert brown-green hues, and the ocean for the blue. Both are in a 40.5mm stainless steel case with screw down crown at 4 o’clock, and have a water resistance rating of 200m. A second timezone is indicated by a 24 hour hour hand in red for the brown-green dial, and red for the blue dial.

The movement is the automatic caliber 9S66, a movement which has been tested in many of Seiko’s watches. The movement is self winding and runs at 28,800 bph, with 72 hours of power reserve. And claimed accuracy is +5s / -3s, better than chronometer standards.

Both the SBGM245 & SBGM247 is part of the regular Grand Seiko Sport Collection and will be priced at USD 5,700.
